The Grainhouse is a family owned South Australian business which began in 1981.

Situated at Norwood the Grainhouse developed a reputation for high quality vegetarian products in a time when Health Foods/Vegetarian seemed to be the big trend.
The business grew and became very well known within the food industry in Adelaide.
Unfortunately all trends seem to have a short life span and changes were needed to keep the business growing.
Our Sales Representative (George Ciccarello) began knocking on doors and treading in unknown territories, which led him to new and exciting contacts. These contacts also created a big challenge for the business, because now it had to take on a different approach with food manufacturing not only vegetarian.

The Grainhouse started supplying Australian Airlines, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre just to name a few.

After a few years the airlines spent millions of dollars on building their own food manufacturing plant. The hospitals made huge changes to their kitchens, and so the business needed another change.

Food Saftey Regulations were introduced.
This meant food handling, hygiene, temperature control all had to be recorded and big changes had to be made.
One of the biggest changes which the Grainhouse was faced with was the premises in which they operated from.  

Decisions had to be made quickly, was the Grainhouse to close its doors after many hard but successful years or was it to move on.

John and George together with their families decided to go all the way and build a brand new production plant.

Today the Grainhouse is situated just minutes away from the city centre in a prime location on a busy street in Thebarton.

The Grainhouse Café is situated at the front of the building, where sandwiches, baguettes, hot dishes from a bain-marie are served daily to passing trade and locals.
The café makes great coffee and sells a large selection of cakes and pastries.
The café has been a great asset for the area, the café is very well known for its catering for corporate functions.

The Grainhouse bakery which operates behind the café is always buzzing with activity.
A large variety of foods are produced at the back, starting from pastries, cakes, biscuits, pizzas, pasta, quiches, vegetarian dishes to Butter chicken, and Singapore noodles and lots, lots, more.

The Grainhouse supplies many well known places, such as The Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide Town Hall, RAAF, Nursing Homes, Schools, Universities, Tafe Colleges and lots more.

Grainhouse is very well known for supplying Spotless Catering and Michael O’Brien Catering, Tempo Catering and events such as the Clipsal, Golf Tournaments, Tour down under, The Ashes, and events that take place at the Adelaide Showgrounds and more.

Private functions is another area which the Grainhouse is growing, lately we have catered for 21st Birthday Partys, Engagements, Weddings and  high profile corporate functions.
The Grainhouse Function room is suitable for all the above functions. The function room seats about 60 people and catering is available.
